Isle of Wight - bike packing trip

Bike packing gear

I recently went on a bike packing trip around the Isle of Wight. This is only my second bike packing trip, but the first with all my own gear that wasn’t a rental trip. This blog post is to just list the gear I used and possibly give you an idea of what you may need to pack on a similar trip. Firstly, the bags I used to carry all the gear on this trip. Read more…

McConks Go Further 14 SUP review

I recently purchased a new touring paddleboard to do the SUP the Thames challenge. This paddle board was the McConks 14′ Go further 2019 I ordered this with the V91 touring carbon paddle, the standard HP2 double pump, standard coiled leash, no seat and added the touring flexi fin. Unfortunately due to Covid19, there has been a recent increase in people using stand up paddle boards as a great form of social distanced exercise, so Read more…

2015

So 2015 is over. What a year it was as well. I completed two (including my first) half ironman distance triathlons. As well as training and competing in Barcelona Ironman. I visited over 12 countries in the year, which was a goal I set in early January 2015. I spent over 23% of the year away from home, with 16% of my year out of the country. I had some amazing adventures as well during Read more…

Year end is coming!

So I really haven’t done well with keeping blog posts happening. I will try to be more productive now that Ironman is over, and turn this less from a training blog and more into somewhere to share my adventures. What’s been happening with me? I’ve been travelling with work, seeing some of the world. I spent almost all of my free time training for Ironman, which I did in October and thankfully finished. Since then Read more…

May 2015

So as I have been doing, here is a recap of my month: I had to go away to Saudi Arabia last minute for a week with work to see a customer. Whilst there my training took a hit as I was working long hours. I managed to get one swim in and also one run in, although it was around 34c during my run and I couldn’t manage much more than 3 miles. On Read more…

April 2015

Here’s a quick recap of April 2015 in my training leading up to Ironman. Numbers: AprilΒ 2014: I spent 28 hours training – a total of 415 miles. AprilΒ 2015: I spent 37 hours training – a total of 375 miles. How do these numbers add up? Well This year I’ve been recording my swims unlike last year, which will explain a large percentage of the hours and a huge decrease in mileage. Here is the graph Read more…

March 2015

So March was the month I started on Justin’s coaching plan. I did have a trip to Madrid which knocked me out for a few days due to travel and meetings, etc and I also did the Reading half marathon. Numbers: MarchΒ 2014: I spent 13 hours training – a total of 202Β miles. March 2015: I spent 32 hours training – a total of 289 miles. Garmin Connect: As you can see from the graph below, Read more…

Reading Half Marathon

So today I did the Reading Half Marathon. I wasn’t expecting a PB, purely because my run performance has taken a massive hit from the end of last year with all the travel at work, and then Christmas and winter and I’ve just lacked the motivation to train. I finished in 01:41:09 – which is in between my two previous half marathon times, so I guess there is a silver lining when I wasn’t expecting Read more…

Feb 2015

So anyone who reads my blog (which is nobody) will probably realise that this blog post about Feb 2015 is actually being posted in late March… I just want to do a little review like I did for Jan Numbers: Feb 2014: I spent 6 hours training – a total of 80 miles. Feb 2015: I spent 7 hours training – a total of 85 miles. So I managed to get an extra hour of Read more…
