So March was the month I started on Justin’s coaching plan. I did have a trip to Madrid which knocked me out for a few days due to travel and meetings, etc and I also did the Reading half marathon.

Numbers:

  • MarchΒ 2014: I spent 13 hours training – a total of 202Β miles.
  • March 2015: I spent 32 hours training – a total of 289 miles.

Garmin Connect: As you can see from the graph below, my training ramped up big time compared to February, this is all down to Justin really. For the first time ever I’m now using my turbo trainer as well.

March-2015

Break down of time from Garmin connect:

  • Running: 572 mins
  • Cycling: 819 mins
  • Swimming: 359 mins
  • Total: 1750 mins

The clocks have gone forward and the days are getting longer, the water is also getting warmer, so I should be able to head out in the evenings for bike rides rather than using the turbo which is just so much nicer and April I should hopefully be able to hit the lake to start this years open water swimming. It’s going to be a struggle to maintain this level of activity in April vs March as I’m away for at least a week with work, possibly more, but I am determined to stay strong as I’m forever getting closer to my first few events of the year, the first key milestone being a Half Iron distance in June, the Eton ManΒ where I can test my ability to see if I can do the half distance and see how much harder I need to ramp up my training before the full Ironman.
